As Certified Senior Advisors, we are keenly aware of the additional challenges seniors face as they move through a major life move. Diminished eyesight, hearing, strength and agility create compromising obstacles. Add in chronic health issues and many seniors would not be able to cope. Then, toss social, emotional and family issues into the mix and the result can lead to Relocation Stress Syndrome.

Adult children share the burden

Adult children, who form the Sandwich Generation, are busy juggling careers and families, constantly struggling with the stress and guilt of trying to allocate their limited time. Stress and guilt mount and take a physical and emotional toll on all family members.

Of course you want to help your parents move, but where does that time come from? Or maybe you have the time, but distance prevents you from being an effective supporter. Telephone and email can accomplish much, but sometimes a warm smile and a hearty hug is the most timely answer.
